Stop Human-trafficking through
Industry Networking and Education

Fighting human trafficking with technology through effective training programs in Florida's hospitality industry.

Who We Are

The SHINE Project is sponsored by the Florida Community Innovation Foundation and is dedicated to combating human trafficking in Florida by ensuring the effectiveness of mandated anti-human trafficking (anti-HT) training in the hospitality industry.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between education and implementation, with a focus on improving training quality and ultimately increasing the detection of human trafficking cases.

Creating Safer Communities

The SHINE Project is a crucial initiative aimed at addressing concerns surrounding the training programs mandated by Florida Statute ยง 509.096. This statute requires hotels to train housekeeping and front-desk employees with anti-human trafficking materials.

Despite this mandate, there is uncertainty regarding the content and effectiveness of these training programs. The SHINE Project seeks to ensure that not only are these programs in effect, but they are also truly effective in combating human trafficking.
